Type Locality and Naming

Column: Egypt general; Upper formation in Upper Clastic Division Gr, above this there are Pliocene limestone, and Alluvium

Synonym:


Lithology and Thickness

Reefal limestones overlying the fluvio-marine to continental sands and gravels of Moghra Fm Covering Marmarican Plateau. Type section thickness of 78m. Numerous oyster banks.

Lower contact

Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next older unit as Moghra Fm

Upper contact

Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates this is the youngest in the Upper Clastic Division Gr, but layer chart also shows there is Pliocene limestone above it.
